NATSIAT VOLLEYBALL

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN NATSIAT VOLLEYBALL COMING TO YOUR COMMUNITY CLICK HERE TO APPLY.

Natsiat Volleyball is a series of volleyball camps and clinics that are held throughout Nunavut. Expert coaches and ex-athletes,  are brought in to run these camps to both teach the game of volleyball to the youth in the communities and further promote the game.

Natsiat Volleyball is sponsored by Nunavut Sport and Recreation and also aligns with Volleyball Canada’s new Aboriginal initiatives as well as the Volleyball Canada LTAD model.

Volleyball Nunavut is looking to host these clinics throughout Nunavut.

THREE GOALS OF NATSIAT VOLLEYBALL ARE:

1. To hold high quality volleyball camps for the youth and adults in each of the host communities. This is a great opportunity to promote and bring awareness of the sport of volleyball to Nunavut. This will be achieved by:

  • Providing recreational service for all ages by holding small clinics for school age youth Grade K – 12.

  • Holding small clinics and games session with adult volleyball groups.

  • Hosting youth volleyball camps for ages 14 – 20.

  • Working closely with already established Junior Teams in each community.

2. To help each community begin to accumulate volleyball equipment. We would like to leave a Legacy Fund of          volleyball equipment for each host community.

3. To continue to support and provide consultation for each volunteer group in each community.

THE ABOVE NATSIAT VOLLEYBALL GOALS WILL BE MET BY PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING:

1. School Sessions

This will consist of small 45 – 75-minute sessions for the host community schools. We plan to have all Grade K – 12 classes each participate in at least one of these sessions where we will teach a specific skill and introduce easy adaptive volleyball games for each grade level.

2. Adult Sessions

We plan to visit the adult volleyball nights and participate in the sessions where we would introduce different adaptive games that would increase skill level to make the game more interesting and help the games become more active.

3. Recreation / Youth Volleyball Clinics

Host evening volleyball clinics in each host community for all youth ages 7-12 and 12-18, who either play on club and high school teams or are interested in playing at a higher level. These camps will be designed for the level of the athletes.
