Team Nunavut indoor volleyball program will focus on:

Preparation for Major Games

Developing athletes for potential 'next level' such as college and university

Identification of future Team Nunavut athletes

Help to develop and prepare lifestyle and societal skills.
PROGRAM INFORMATION:

4 Overage athletes born 2001 or 2002

6 - 10 athletes born 2003 or younger (including alternates)
COMPETITIONS:

2023 ARCTIC WINTER GAMES - (Tentatively moved from March 2022)
*Volleyball Nunavut and Team Nunavut will re-evaluate participation once NAIG is announced, due to financial and time restrictions with Canada Games.

IDENTIFICATION AND SELECTION INFORMATION
VBNU has developed a new “5 STEP Athlete Identification and Selection Process” for selecting athletes for the 2022 Canada Games and the 2022 AWG (when new date is announced).
STEP 1 - ON-LINE IDENTIFICATION
DEADLINE - Monday, March 1, 2021 - COMPLETED
STEP 2 - VIDEO SUBMISSION

All athletes must submit a video to the head coaches
DEADLINE - Monday, April 12, 2021
Step 3 - ATHLETE SELECTION #1

Coaches will select 2 to 6 athletes for the AWG Team and 2 to 6 Canada Games Team.

These athletes will be selected from their video submissions
DEADLINE - Monday May 10, 2021
Step 4 - ATHLETE SELECTION TO TERRITORIALS

Athletes participating in the Regional Tournaments will be identified and selected by HP Selection Committee to attend a Team Nunavut Training / Territorial Tournament Feb 4-6, 2022
November 26 – 28, 2021 – Qikiqtani Region
December 3 – 5, 2021 – Kitikmeot Region

Remaining 4 – 8 athletes plus 2 alternates per AWG and Canada Games Teams chosen.

Beach Athletes 2 athletes plus 1- 2 alternates chosen per team

VIDEO SUBMISSION:
As we are in STEP 2 – VIDEO SUBMISSION we are asking each athlete to submit a 10-minute video of you playing in a full 6 vs 6 match, 4 vs 4 or 3 vs 3 or performing all the skills listed below.
Coaches will be looking for the skills:

Defensive abilities

Attitude / desire when competing.

**As part of the video please provide an introduction on the video. Tape yourself giving:

HOW TO SUBMIT A VIDEO:
VBNU will be asking athletes / coaches / parents to set up a private YouTube account that coaches will have access to view each athletes video. Beach athletes can video them playing indoor volleyball.
